Warning: On Dec 28th I got an e-mail from this guy calling himself John Kwalee asking me to tutor his daughter 'Cynthia' for two hours a week for two months beginning February 26th.
A warning message was sent by a findatutor member to several tutors regarding a possible fraud. Email as follow:

Be careful this John Kwale is a fraud!!!
On Dec 28th I got an e-mail from this guy calling himself John Kwalee asking me to tutor his daughter 'Cynthia' for two hours a week for two months beginning February 26th.
I thought it was a bit weird that the e-mail went into my bulk folder but then I thought he may have sent the e-mail to more than one teacher in order to get the best one for his daughter.
I started corresponding with him and agreed to tutor his daughter. His daughter was not actually in the country at the time which I also thought was a bit weird. He told me that her first language was Spanish and that she was going to be here for two months and he needed a tutor to keep her occupied. He asked me how much I would charge for the two months and I told him 500dollars. He said that that would not be a problem. Then it got a bit strange....he told me that he was going to send me a cheque for 4500dollars!!!! and that I was to take my cut and then give the rest to his daughter's guardian.
He had earlier told me that his daughter would be staying with her cousin so I was baffled why he would give money to a complete stranger like me to give to someone he was related to - why not do that himself.
He sent me the cheque and it looked really suspicious. It arrived in a non-registered envelope with British stamps but a NZ postmark on it. It was from the Bank of Honolulu and dated 02/04/08 (not the way an American bank would do the date of course). He then told me to cash the cheque, take my cut and then send the rest to his daughter's travel agent in London via Western Union. He even sent me a comprehensive list of Western Union branches in Auckland!!!! At this point I was very uneasy about this. Then I received an e-mail from another lady on findatutor.co.nz warning me about corresponding with him and saying that he had also sent her a fake cheque for 4500dollars!!
He expect you to cash the cheque and by the time the bank get back to you and tell you it is a fraud he has taken the money and you are liable for ALL OF IT!!!
Just be careful
